Official Opening Meeting of New Track - Kalinga Park

Saturday, 17th March, 2001

The new 8 lap metric Queensland track has been built immediately inside our existing 70 feet diameter imperial sized track in Kalinga park Brisbane. A new elevated railway line has been built coming off the main line right beside our track & going to the airport. We negotiated with the railway building contractor to try to get some assistance in building a metric sized track. They agreed to carry out most of the work for us basically as a community assistance project. We did all the survey levelling & detail work such as crash fence etc. Consequently the cost was absolutely minimal to us for which we are extremely grateful. We believe the new 8 lap / 500 m track to be world class, fastest unofficial speed so far 319.35 kph. If you have a look at our web site www.trcaa.aunz.org under Qld track, news, you will see photos of the new track with the old one still in place outside the crash fence. You need to come here for a run as the track is very level for good speeds!!!
